PROJECT BRIEF
Sarasota County is a direct recipient of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR). The County has been awarded $411 million in funding to deliver unmet needs assistance to the community from the impacts from Hurricanes Ian, Debbie, Milton, and Helene for Single Family Housing Recovery and Not for Profit, Municipal, Affordable Housing, and Workforce Development projects. Project types include social service centers reconstruction, replacement of water control structures, drainage improvement, new affordable housing complexes, and new/expanded educational and training centers.
NERIS is providing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, including review and revision of the previously developed Broad Review and completion of over 300 Tier IIs and 10 Categorical Exclusions and 22 Environmental Assessment Environmental Reviews to date. NERIS’ Scope of Work includes GIS map production, preliminary existing conditions review, site visits, photo documentation, and desktop review to assess impacts associated with the proposed alternative to environmental resources and identify mitigation measures, if necessary. Special assessment topics include Acceptable Separation Distance, Noise, Federal Flood Risk Management Standard, and Radon testing for these sites.
NERIS provides Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) -compliant Lead Based Paint (LBP) inspections and preparing associated Lead Based Paint Risk Assessment Reports. This Scope includes a Site Visit, completion of HUD forms 5.0 and 5.1, XRF, dust wipe, and soil sample (if required) collection, sketch of sample locations and identification numbering, photo documentation, preparation of Risk Assessment including identification of lead hazards, laboratory analytical results, and mitigation measures.
